Literary Devices Posters and Worksheets

Does your child know how to identify all the literary devices that could be tested in the 11+? Some of them, such as similes and metaphors, are regularly taught in school, but others, such as irony and analogy, are not.

In 11+ exams which don’t have a separate English paper, these are often included as comprehension questions, so they are vital to know.

That’s why I decided to create these colourful posters to help children learn and remember the key literary devices.

For each device, there is a simple definition, an example and a fun picture to make it memorable. There are also three illustrated worksheet for children to practice what they have learnt with detailed answers for each.
